Lori entered the pageantry arena to further her work in the area of awareness and prevention of all forms of domestic abuse. She has traveled hundreds of miles giving assembly programs to junior and senior high school students about this topic, with specific emphasis on teen dating abuse.

Lori's assembly program covers topics like warning signs of controlling behaviors that could lead to dangerous situations, as well as identification of resources available if teens find themselves in trouble.

The truth is that 1 out of every 3 teenagers in this country is currently involved in an abusive relationship with a peer, and, it is NOT a problem concentrated in just "certain" types of communities... it is everywhere. Often, the more affluent the community, the more frequent the problem.

It is important that our country's educators recognize this problem, and allow Lori the opportunity to come and speak with their students. At the end of every assembly Lori has given, there has been a line of students waiting to speak with her seeking guidance and immediate intervention.
